It can be hard to glam up your home using glitz and gold without it looking like Donald Trump’s love child. So we have come up with a few tips to glam up your home while leaving the tack at the door.
1. Lights and chandeliers
No we don’t necessarily mean one pinched from Buckingham palace, you can, but any form of gold featured lighting can add a touch of class to your room. If you do go traditional, go for something that features more glass than metal to provide a more elegant feel. If chandeliers are not your thing, try adding a simple gold lamp to the mix to add some style.
2. Gold furnishings, fabrics and paints
Gold furniture has come back into style. Look through any decorating magazine and you are certain to see elegant rooms that have hints of gold and glitz placed strategically throughout the room.
Choose curtains, linens, rugs, pillows and other fabrics that feature hints of gold to class up your space. If you’re feeling bold, you could paint a wall or coffee table in glimmering gold paint.
If this seems to be too much gold for your taste, consider adding a few throw pillows that have specks or swirls of glittery gold trim running throughout.
3. Glam up the table
Any table in your home can be glamorized by adding a simple gold runner that is perfect all year round. Paired with the perfect centrepiece, this becomes an understated way to make a gold statement in your home.
If you are hosting a special dinner, you could decorate the table with gold place settings, gold napkins, and get out your good china – perhaps rimmed in gold – for that added glitz and glamour.
4. Gold accessories add sparkle
If you only want to add a few simple gold items, then try adding a few over-the-top glittery gold candles to your table or an end table in the living room and watch a little shine go a long way.
If candles are not your thing, then consider accessorizing a table top with a runner in a shiny gold fabric, topped with a glass vase filled with gold decorative balls.
5. Gold frames
One of the simplest ways to add glam to your home is to use gold picture frames. We don’t mean huge oversized ones, just simple gold frames to replace the ones you have.
